Zunaid graduated among the top 10 law graduates from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2013 and graduated magna cum laude from UC Berkeley School of Law, California in 2017. In 2018 Zunaid was invited to apply to the Berkeley Centre for Law and Business (BCLB), one of California’s most respected University-linked business and law consultancies. While at BCLB Zunaid helped pioneer Venture Capital University, an online venture capital education platform and assisted in establishing the Business in Society Institute, which focuses on sustainable methods of corporate governance, dignity in the workplace and impact investing.

Zunaid currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Brightest Young Minds NPC, one of Africa’s leading entrepreneurship hubs and is a Director of LHL Attorneys Incorporated, which has taken on some of South Africa’s most complex litigious matters. Clarissa obtained her undergraduate degree in 2009 from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal and went on to attain her graduate degree in 2011 from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal. She is a member of the world’s largest anti-fraud organization, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and a member of the Institute of Directors in South Africa.

Clarissa currently serves as a Director on the Board of one of the most leading ICT service providers on the African Continent. She also serves as a Senior Associate of LHL Attorneys as one of the lead attorneys in Whistleblowing Law, Sexual Harassment in the Workplace, and Civil and Commercial Litigation. Prior to her appointment at LHL Attorneys, Clarissa was an attorney of a firm at the forefront of public law at which she represented prominent clients in both corporate and public law.

With more than 10 years’ experience, Clarissa has gained a passion for corporate law, governance and compliance audits in both the private and public sector, and ultimately fighting corruption by providing guidance to whistleblowers.

Maxine studied towards her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of the Witwatersrand and graduated in 2017, majoring in psychology and law. She received multiple merit awards during her studies in Psychology as well as achieved the honour of being accepted as a member of the Golden Key Honour Society of South Africa.

She began studying towards her LLB degree at the same institution and graduated in 2019, all the while being accepted onto the Dean’s List for her academic achievements. Maxine started at LHL at a legal policy analyst and has gained experience in Road Accident Fund claims, civil litigation and marketing.

Kristin studied towards a Bachelor of Commerce in Law at the University of Pretoria and graduated in 2019. Thereafter, she completed her LLB at the same institution and is due to graduate cum laude in April 2021. During her studies, Kristin was awarded semi-finalist and runner-up, together with best Heads of Argument, in UP Law Faculty’s Internal Moot Competition in 2018.

In 2020, Kristin elected to work as a student counsellor for the University of Pretoria Law Clinic offering her legal assistance to indigent member of the community.

Kristin began serving her articles at LHL Attorneys Inc. in January 2021. Her passion for law is evident through her conscientious and meticulous approach in her work – which focuses on civil litigation and corporate advisory.

Maricia graduated in 2017 with her Bachelor of Art with majors in International Relations and Law from the University of the Witwatersrand. In 2019, she also graduated from Wits with her LLB degree. Maricia made the Deans List in 2018 and graduated with various merits awards in the subjects of Jurisprudence, Contract Law and International Political Economy.

During her University career, Maricia acted as the Wits Debating Union’s Deputy Chief Adjudicator and represented the University at the South African National Debating Championships.

Maricia also served as President of the Wits Inala Forum, a food sovereignty student society which championed student’s food rights. This position saw her speak before the South African Human Rights Council, the National Colloquium on Food Security and the Cape Town Water Tribunal. Maricia also served as student councillor at the Wits Law Clinic in the Family Law department in 2019. She also assisted in managing the Wits Food Programme.

Maricia is currently completing her articles of clerkship at LHL Attorneys. She is specifically interested in Protected Disclosures Law and commercial litigation. Maricia is fluent in English and Afrikaans and her hobbies include hiking, reading, yoga and cooking.

Bavukile studied towards a Bachelor of Arts (Law) degree at the University of Witwatersrand and graduated in 2019, majoring in Politics and Law. In 2019 she began her LLB at the same institution and graduated in 2021.

She is currently serving her practical vocational training at LHL Attorneys Inc. where she is receiving training in personal injury and civil litigation. Prior to joining LHL she did an internship with prominent Johannesburg attorney Eric Mabuza where she obtained skills in constitutional law and was able to develop her knowledge and interest in politics. She was further exposed to commercial law, contract law, labour law succession as well as settlement negotiations. Bavukile was involved in the Link Literacy Programme and contributed to the development of numeracy and literacy skills of children whose second language is English and who attend low-income schools in Johannesburg.

She is diligent and disciplined when it comes to completing tasks which are assigned to her. She is passionate about the cases and tasks given to her.

She is also adaptable and enjoys learning about the changing dynamic not only in the law fraternity, but also society at large. With developments in technology, changes in the environment and evolving opinions on society in general, she values the importance of remaining up to date with these changes and engaging with them effectively in order to make a contribution to the work and social space.

She is highly motivated and has always been interested in law and politics, so it was a natural decision for her to major in those two fields. Her goals are to make a contribution to our society by representing those who are disadvantaged and ensure that they have access to the legal system and achieve justice.

As a seasoned administrator, Thato has spent the past four years working with individuals and businesses to improve their administrative structures. Through his innovative and unique approaches to administration and operations, he ensures that the companies run smoothly and efficiently.

Thato has a passion for Commercial and Civil Litigation, he also has a distinct interest for the equality of the LGBTQIA+ community as they are more likely to experience intolerance, and discrimination.

Thato is currently the Practice Manager at LHL Attorneys and is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the administrative, secretarial, client relationship, and logistics functions within the Firm. He is a passionate and vibrant people’s person and is a valuable member of staff at LHL.

Kylen Pillay is the Finance and Operations Manager at LHL Attorneys. Kylen started his journey with LHL in April 2021, and has quickly grasped the concepts of dealing with Road Accident Fund and Minister of Police matters. He is currently completing his B.Com degree in Financial Management at The Management College of Southern Africa and is a registered Chartered Institute of Management Accountants student. Kylen is determined to acquire his designation as a Chartered Global Management Accountant as he seeks to expand his knowledge and network on a globally recognised platform. Kylen is a highly motivated and driven young man, who aspires to be a thought leader in the finance industry.

Kylen is responsible for taking care of LHL’s personal injury clients’ financial needs during the course of running their matters against the Road Accident Fund. He is also responsible for the general management of the finance and bookkeeping functions at LHL. He is passionate about ongoing learning and personal development, constantly striving to improve his strategic and analytical skills, adaptability and industry specific knowledge. Kylen enjoys working in the legal environment and is particularly enthusiastic about learning and development in the legal and venture capital spaces.

Zandile completed her BA International Relations degree at the University of Pretoria in 2019. She majored in International Relations and Political Science. Zandile’s qualification enabled her to gain a deeper and more meaningful understanding of Global issues such as economics, culture, education and the impact that these areas have on different societies throughout the world. Zandile is an Alumna of the 2019 Asia World Model United Nations Conference, where youth leaders from all over the world gather to strengthen their analytical reasoning skills, public speaking skills and to network with others from across the Globe. In 2019, Zandile was the recipient of the award of “Honourable Mention” from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation.

Zandile is a passionate advocate of human rights and humanitarian causes. She is committed to giving back to the community and has volunteered for the Lawtons Africa Literacy Programme, where she taught basic computer literacy skills to junior staff. She also worked for the Pro Bono department at Lawtons where she was awarded recognition for her work with Barefoot College, a social work and research centre, whose mission is to improve the lives of people across the world by providing areas of extreme rural poverty with access to basic needs, like safe drinking water, clean light, basic education and dignified livelihoods.
