About Us

Champions of Justice for Over 40 Years

LHL Attorneys was founded in Johannesburg over 40 years ago by a husband-and-wife team with a clear focus: to represent plaintiffs. That focus continues to guide our work today.

We are now a team of over 50 professionals, including approximately 25 lawyers, working from offices in Johannesburg and Cape Town. Our work covers class actions, personal injury, and complex commercial disputes across South Africa.

Empowering Clients, Driving Impact

At LHL Attorneys we aim to create meaningful change by empowering our clients through committed, strategic representation. Our firm actively pursues outcomes that have a lasting positive impact, not only for our clients but for society as a whole. By challenging conventions and advocating fearlessly, we help our clients shape a fairer world.

Embracing Change, Cultivating Excellence

Integrity, intellectual rigor, and a forward-thinking culture underpin everything we do. We embrace change, continuously evolving to remain at the forefront of legal innovation.

Our Story

As pioneers in South Africa’s emerging class action landscape, we bring a wealth of international expertise to local cases. Our team includes professionals with experience in jurisdictions such as Canada and the United States, enabling us to apply global best practices and strategies to achieve successful outcomes.

We are also a recognised leader in litigation funding. LHL has deep experience in structuring and managing litigation finance for class and group actions, balancing the commercial realities for funders with efficient case management and strong results for clients.

Our cases are backed by some of the world’s leading funders, including Omni Bridgeway and Woodsford.
Collaboration is central to how we work. We partner with top international law firms, including Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein, DiCello Levitt, and Marler Clark, and maintain a robust network of local and global expert witnesses. This includes working closely with leading economic specialists to build and validate damages models that strengthen the claims we advance.

From our early days as a dedicated plaintiff practice to our current role as a leader in class action litigation, our purpose has never changed: to provide clear, focused, and effective representation for those who need it most.
